Welcome to old and new visitors to the
Tulocay Winery website!
Despite our reticence to toot our own horn — unlike many BIG NAME
wineries who have legions of PR minions — we do get our share of notice
from folks who relish wine offerings from small, noncorporate wineries
like ourselves. For the latest mentions of Tulocay, please see Our News.
The Tulocay Story
Few wine connoisseurs realize that
Tulocay is one of the oldest wineries in Napa Valley. Founded in 1975,
Tulocay has been acknowledged by Napa Valley insiders and old timers as
having a style that represents Napa before it became "Beverly
Hills-ified".
While many wines around the world today
are made in the same so-called international style, Tulocay wines are
crafted by traditional methods that reflect the character of the
individual vineyard as expressed by the winemaker. They are wines meant
to be an integral part of the meal. And many are wines created to be
consumed in the future (global climate change permitting) as well as
appreciated for their youthful forcefulness in their youth.
Like art, film, literature and politics, wine is an
individual taste. One can seek out the highly rated and well publicized
wines. That's fine. But how many really express art versus those that
are simply manipulated to garner high scores in BIG NAME wine
publications or from highly publicized wine blowhards?
This is a question that you, the wine drinker, must
decide.
A note from Skippy
If you're looking for White Zinfandel,
mass-produced Merlot, or sweet, fruity Chardonnay, go away.
But if your taste tends
toward kick-out-the-jambs Cabernets, Syrahs, Zinfandels and Merlots,
you've come to the right place.
We also make svelte, subtle,
Burgundy-style Pinot Noirs and very classy, unique Chardonnays.
Tulocay Winery has been
around since 1975. But not many people have heard about Bill Cadman,
its owner and my boss. That's 'cause he believes the wine should
reflect the essence of the vineyard and the philosophy of the
winemaker, not the latest innovation of the marketing department or the
bottom line of Wall Street financiers.
Peruse our website. Check out
the wines. If you have any questions, just give us a call. Chances are the guy who answers the phone
is the boss himself.

Dear friends:
If you tend to view askance
the hyperbole on these pages, there's a nice write-up about Tulocay in Wine
Country This Week. We'll call it "a second opinion."
The only problem with the
article is that the writer goes on at length about Buddy, although she
does characterize the beast as "little" and "yappy." I couldn't have
said it better myself. At least Buddy doesn't chase me like the winery
cats.
The price list for all our
wines is here. To view our recently
released offerings go to Our News.
