SINGLE VINEYARD, SINGLE VARIETAL

Since 1975, our focus has been on small lots of site-specific wines, bottled as a single varietal, without blending. We make exceptions to this on occasion, but by focusing on crafting wines of place, we hope to give you, the drinker, a delightful and distinctive expression of one wine from one place from one time (the vintage), that you simply can’t find elsewhere.

MADE WITH MINIMAL INTERVENTION

Also known as traditional winemaking, or the old-fashioned way, or the way we’ve always sort of done things. We don’t use added tannins, enzymes, oak adjuncts, concentrates, bentonite, or any of the long list of stuff you can throw at a pile of grapes these days. Since our inception our reds have been traditionally bottled without fining or filtration. Our low-tech approach allows the wine to speak for itself, without the obfuscation of modern additives.

MEANT TO AGE

Our wines are known by lots of old farts who drink lots of old wine for lasting lots of years. We think finding unique vineyards, with a hands-off winemaking approach, plays an important role in this. Plus we never kick a wine out of the cellar before its time, racking, blending, and bottling based on how the wine tastes, never by formula. Holding on to wine is hard though, so we won’t fault you for drinking yours!
